Citrus Honey From Italy - Bright And Oh So Sweet
Citrus season is upon us. From now until April, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines will ripen in orchards around the world. Many months ago, this fruit started out as a fragrant white blossom, which produced the nectar that bees turned into honey. Our citrus honey comes to you from lemon and grapefruit trees growing outside of Zafferana Etna, a little town on the island of Sicily in Italy.
Citrus juice (especially from lemons) is often used in cooking to brighten flavors. Citrus honey has the same effect. Here are 3 tasty recipes that use citrus honey:
- Honey Citrus Glazed Carrots from the National Board calls for 1/4 cup of honey. Use citrus honey for even more zesty flavor.
- Citrus and Honey Roasted Beets is a wonderful recipe from Eat Your Beets.
